Anyone dealing with HM Land Registry without a conveyancer handling the whole transaction already knows the drill: before a transfer, gift, or probate application can go through, a solicitor has to independently verify your identity. Finding one willing to take a one-off appointment, often at short notice, has long been the awkward part of an otherwise straightforward process.
ID1Verify.co.uk has now made that step bookable entirely online. The service pairs applicants with Hamzah Mahmood, a solicitor at HNM Law (SRA ID 7017998), who completes, who completes ID1, ID2 and ID5 verification either face-to-face or over a secure video call — the remote route HM Land Registry made permanent back in November 2022. Slots run into evenings and weekends, and payment is handled securely through Stripe at the point of booking.
"People often don't realise they need this step until they're already mid-transaction and under time pressure," said Mudassar Choudhary, director of ID1Verify.co.uk. "Making the whole process bookable online, with a real solicitor rather than a call centre, means people can get it sorted the same day instead of losing a week chasing an appointment."
Beyond bookings, the site has built out a free guide library covering the situations HM Land Registry recognises — transfers of equity, gifting a property, probate and executors, power of attorney, and verifying identity from overseas — along with a plain-English breakdown of Practice Guide 67, HM Land Registry's own rulebook for identity evidence.
ID1Verify.co.uk trades under Computer Troubleshooters Redbridge Limited (company registration 09184717) and holds ICO registration ZC223824.
