Doors of Divergence Announces Award-Winning Immersive Escape Room Relaunch in Charlotte, NC

Charlotte, NC- February 2026-  Doors of Divergence, the critically acclaimed immersive escape room experience originally based in Brooklyn, New York, announces its official relaunch in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a projected opening in February 2026. Known nationally for redefining what escape rooms can be, Doors of Divergence brings its award-winning, choice-driven adventures to a new home in the Southeast.

The return of Doors of Divergence has already generated significant industry attention. Room Escape Artist, one of the leading authorities in the escape room and immersive entertainment space, described the relaunch as “possibly the most anticipated comeback in American escape room history.”

Founded on the belief that player choice should meaningfully shape experience, Doors of Divergence is best known for its choose-your-own-adventure design philosophy. Unlike traditional escape rooms, player decisions influence storylines, determine which puzzles are encountered, affect character interactions, and shape endings. Crucially, these choices persist across multiple rooms, creating a cohesive narrative arc that makes each experience fully replayable.

During its Brooklyn run, Doors of Divergence released two flagship experiences: Heresy: 1897 and Madness: 1917; both of which received the industry’s highest honors. In 2023, The TERPECA Project, a ranking of the top escape rooms across the world voted on by hundreds of escape room enthusiasts, ranked Madness: 1917 #37 out of approximately 50,000 escape rooms worldwide. In the same year, Heresy: 1897 placed in the in top 200. Madness: 1917 was also named a 2023 Golden Lock Award Winner, followed by Heresy: 1897 receiving a 2024 Golden Lock Award, accolades presented by Room Escape Artist in recognition of excellence and innovation in escape room design. Madness: 1917 also won a Special Recognition in Immersive Gaming from immersive-theatre publication No Proscenium in 2024. 

The upcoming Charlotte location will feature improved and expanded adventures within the Doors of Divergence universe, continuing the company’s signature blend of immersive storytelling, live performers, richly detailed environments, and consequence-driven gameplay. Guests can expect multi-chapter narratives in which they are not merely solving puzzles, but actively shaping the world around them. After re-opening their first two productions, the company plans on opening a third and final chapter in the branching storyline, as well as a side adventure, in late 2026.
