mTarsier Launches Free Open-Source Tool to Unify MCP Server Management Across All Clients

mTarsier is a open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server management across AI clients like Claude Desktop, Codex, VS Code, Gemini CLI and many more.

CHANDIGARH, INDIA, March 16, 2026 — MCP360 today released mTarsier, a free and open-source desktop application for managing Model Context Protocol (MCP) server configurations across AI clients from a single place. It requires no account, runs entirely locally, and currently supports more than 12 clients on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

MCP configuration has become a major pain point. Claude Desktop stores its config in one JSON file. Cursor keeps it in a different location. VS Code extensions use another format. Windsurf, ChatGPT Desktop, and Gemini CLI each manage configuration in their own way. People working across clients are left manually editing JSON across scattered folders, with no validation, no backup, and no easy way to share setups with teammates.

"We built mTarsier out of our frustration. We kept hitting the same issue over and over: one small JSON error in the wrong config file could break a client. There was no central view, no validation, and no easy way to hand a working setup to a colleague. After solving it for ourselves, we realized the same problem existed for anyone working across multiple AI tools."
